SOLUTIONS TO AGRICULTURAL PROBLEMS

HERE ARE THE SOLUTIONS TO AGRICULTURAL PROBLEMS

Finincial institutions should reduce interest rate on loans given to farmers.
Transportation and Communication facilities should be adequately provided.
Extension agent should train farmers on the recent agricultural technology.
Storage and Processing facilities like silo, cribs, barns, millers and
so on should be provided to farmers.
Workshops and Seminars should be organised in order to update farmers knowledge.
Farm inputs such as fertilizers, chemicals and hybrid seeds should be
provided at subsidize rate to farmers.
Researches into plant and animal pathology should be encouraged in
order to prevent and cure plant and animal diseases.

TYPES OF AGRICULTURE
There are two main types of agriculture, (1) Subsistence agriculture
(2) Commericial agriculture.

SUBSISTENCE AGRICULTURE-: This involves the planting of crops and
rearing of animals for family consumption. The farmer plants for the
benefit of himself and his family.
CHARISTICS OF SUBSISTENCE AGRICULTURE
It requires a small area of land.
Labour is usually provided by the farmer and his family.
It involves the use of crude tools such as hoes and cutlasses.
The yield is very low
It requires little capital

COMMERICIAL AGRICULTURE-: this involves the planting of crops and
rearing of animals in large quantity for the purpose of sales. This is
directly opposite to the subsistent agriculture.
CHARASTICS OF COMMERICIAL AGRICULTURE
It requires large area of land
It involves the use of modern implements, such as tractors, ploughs,
harrows, etc.
It requires paid labour
It requires large capital i.e. It is very expensive to practise.
The yield is very high
It requires technical expertise.
