Novel & Novella

 

 Novel

A Novel is a long fictive work (prose) peopled by imaginative
characters and events, and events are artistically presented as if

they actually occurred. A Novel contains at least Thirty- Five thousand
words. Examples are Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche and The
Stillborn (1984) by Zainab Alkali, etc.

Novella

The Novella is neither a full novel nor a short story, but it is
longer than a short story and shorter than a Novel in VOLUME.
